Where do I start? how to get fit when your unfit…
Here’s 4 steps to help you get kick started…
Get Walking
A great way to boost fitness and get those lbs moving! Walking is a low intensity exercise, which places far less stress on the muscles and joints. You’ve got to move more! More movement means burning more calories, which means more weight loss. My aim is to get clients to complete a minimum of 10,000 steps per day.
Start trying to walk more throughout the day; take the stairs (instead of the lift), walk to work (if possible), go for a stroll around the park/block on your lunch break, make extra trips to the toilet, just get walking! If you want to meticulously track your steps to keep you accountable (advised!) i’d recommend buying a Fitbit.
Hire A Coach
If there’s one thing I regret it’s not hiring a coach sooner. If i’d have taken the plunge and reached out to somebody with more experience earlier on, then i’d be way further in my development than I am now. Hiring a good coach is a sure way to achieve quicker results. Just make-sure to do your research before hiring.
Start Lifting
Weight training is a great way to improve muscular fitness and the best way to improve the overall shape of your body, not only will you look better but overtime you can turn your body into a ‘lean mean fat burning machine!”. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn. As mentioned above if your new to weight training, go and hire a coach to teach you how to lift, it will be the best investment you make. There’s also a ton of FREE Workouts on my site (give them ago and let me know how you get on!)
Take Baby Steps
If you’ve spent a period of time leading an unhealthy lifestyle it’s difficult to turn everything around overnight. My advice would be to take small baby steps. Stuff like planning what you want to achieve, enquiring into hiring a personal trainer, and reading up on the subject will help prime your mind for action.
With regards to exercise take small steps like walking (see above) or going on a light jog. It wouldn’t be wise to go and beast yourself with a gruelling session straight away! Start out with a light 5-10 minute session and build yourself up slowly.
Thanks for reading, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to get in touch it would be a pleasure to help.
