The Secrets Of Getting A Six Pack – What To Do & What To Avoid…
16/10/2019Most guys on the planet wouldn’t mind a six-pack, how about you?
What about even just a four-pack, or some core definition?
But the six-pack is the real deal, and it separates a good physique (4 pack!), from a jaw-dropping, head-turning superhero body!
There’s something incredibly empowering about having abs. Abs are a sign of strength, and discipline – built and sculpted by lots of hard work in the gym, and prep in the kitchen.
A sculpted six-pack makes you stand out from the crowd, as you look like an action hero with your top off. Guys get jealous, and women take note!
Cutting Through The Confusion
There are thousands of articles online, all claiming to help you get a six-pack. The trouble is that most of these pieces are hocus pocus (which means… a load of rubbish!).
They are written by people who have no idea about how to get a six-pack – most of the writers who publish such posts don’t even have six-packs themselves! They are copywriters, sat behind desks, who are paid to sell products for some weight loss pill company – whose sole intention is to make a quick buck and steal your hard-earned cash!
Why Trust Me?
Ok, Nick, so why should we trust you then?
Great question, and let me explain…
First of all, I have abs! I’m also a highly experienced personal trainer based in Sheffield, I run my own PT company called LEP Fitness, and have completed over 10,000 x 1-1 personal training sessions.
I’ve helped hundreds of men and women to get the body of their dreams, many of whom have achieved a sculpted beach body – with a six-pack anybody would be proud to own. BUT don’t just take my word for it, check out the hundreds of testimonials on my website.
Over the years, I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t! And I want to share my secrets with you…
#1 Low Carb Diet (Rapid Results!)
The number one most important part of the six-pack equation is your diet. It doesn’t matter if you’re doing 1,000 sit-ups per day if you are also eating 3,000 calories of pizza as well… guess what? You’re not going to have a six-pack.
You could have an eight pack (yes there’s such thing as an eight pack!) BUT if your stomach muscles are surrounded by body fat, then you won’t be able to see them!
To visually see your abs, you need to be below 15% body fat, for serious ab definition, you need to be around 10-12% body fat.
The best way to do this is to create a calorie deficit and follow a low carb diet — foods that are rich in protein and fat. A keto diet plan will be perfect if you want to get lean quickly. It’s not that carbs are the enemy, BUT for fast results, it’s the best route.
Carb Cycling
The other alternative is to do what’s called ‘carb cycling’ – this method is also extremely effective.
What is Carb Cycling?
The world’s best bodybuilders utilise carb cycling, and so do athletes and superhero actors from all over the world – people like Ryan Reynolds, Tom Hardy, Jason Statham, The Rock, to name but a few!
Carb cycling is where you have carbs on training days, foods like pasta, brown rice, and potatoes, BUT then on rest days… you eat low carb. Carbs are used to fuel your workouts so that you can train hard and get fantastic muscle-building results.
For example, let’s say you train four days per week. You would have four high protein/carb days, and then three high fat, medium protein days.
#2 AB Training (Building A Solid Set Of Abs)
Sit-ups are a great exercise, BUT there are other exercises which you can benefit from more. There are hundreds of ab exercises, some better than others.
My advice would be to mix up your ab training, make-sure to do at least 6-8 different exercises each week. Do a combination of bends, twists, crunches, static holds (like the plank), and athletic movements for the core.
I’m a big believer in training both your core and abs. The core is about strength i.e., having a strong core to help you lift heavier weights on exercises like the deadlift, squat, etc. Whereas abs… are more about vanity, having defined muscles, and the aesthetical part, that you want to show off on the beach.
Here’s a video I put together of 8 of my favorite ab exercises. I do this routine 2x per week throughout the year, BUT 4-6x per week on the lead up to a beach holiday (usually 4-6 weeks before I go away). I train my abs more the leaner I get, so that they pop out, and look sharp.
