2020 is here, Xmas is over, and if you’re like most people, you’ll probably be feeling somewhat sluggish and dreading January!

For lots of people, January can be a very depressing month. It’s dark, cold, and getting inspired/motivated can be very challenging!

That said, it’s also a brilliant opportunity to start a new year and achieve some goals that are truly meaningful to you.

You can use January to set the tone for the rest of the year and build momentum so that this time next year (2021), you’re in a much better position whether that’s financially, emotionally, spiritually, socially, or physically, or a combination of them all!

In today’s article, I’m going to be focusing on the ‘physical’ – which means giving you tips on how to achieve a successful body transformation in 2020.

The tips that I’m about to share aren’t just about making you look better, BUT ‘feel’ better too! If you look after your physical health, you will have more confidence, and it will rub off across all areas of your life…

You’ll be better at work and happier around friends and family. BUT most importantly… you’ll be able to look at yourself in the mirror each day and be proud of yourself for your transformation and continued effort towards trying to build a better version of yourself.

Let’s dive in…

How To Achieve A Successful Body Transformation in 2020

#1 Hire A Personal Trainer

The first thing I’m going to recommend is hiring a personal trainer. An excellent PT will help you achieve results in half the time. Your coach will keep you accountable and help design a program that’s perfect for helping you achieve your goals and is suitable for your current fitness level.

The best way to find a personal trainer is to ask a friend for a recommendation – is there anybody that you know who got great results with their PT last year?

The other option is to type ‘personal trainer’ into Google and then the area where you live. For example, type into Google personal trainer Sheffield, or personal trainer Manchester, London, etc. Have a look online, look for reviews, testimonials and then book in for a consult and get things moving.

#2 Create A New Identity

KEY! To become a fitness freak, you need to take on a new identity. Think of this like an alter ego – where you imagine yourself as a different person. Pick somebody who you look up to, Kim Kardashian, Hugh Jackman, whoever it may be!

Close your eyes and imagine you are them, you have their strength, commitment, and you step into their shoes. You can practice this by closing your eyes and doing visualisation, put on some good music and spend 5 minutes getting into your new character. I’d highly recommend watching this London Real video about Alter Egos…

Another way you can take on a new identity is to wear high quality and stylish gym wear. You will then look and feel the part in the gym, and it will boost your confidence and help you build a new healthy identity. The new Boohoo Man Activewear range is excellent – and you can get yourself a new gym wardrobe for £100-200. Or even if you just want a couple of items, you can get high-quality gym wear for a very reasonable price (£10-£50).

#3 Allocate Four Hours Per Week To Workout

There are 168 hours each week. For many of you reading this, lots of your time will be dedicated to working (40+ hours a week), and sleep (42-56 hours per week) – these two in themselves take up half of the week! Then the other hours are often made up of: commuting, cooking, cleaning, socialising, family time, Netflix, social media, etc.

Like you prioritise specific tasks such as work (to pay the bills) and sleep (to rest and recharge), you also need to prioritise time to workout. You won’t get fit or achieve a successful body transformation without spending time training.

The best way to do this is to put in time into your diary and commit to it. Treat it like an important meeting with your boss. If you don’t turn up to a meeting with your boss, you’ll likely get sacked! So treat it with the same importance.

If you go to the gym 4x per week (4 hours) and do that for the next 52 weeks, that will mean you’ll have completed 208 gym sessions! This, combined with making some positive diet changes, will see tremendous results, and you’ll have either achieved your body transformation or be well on your way.

#4 Work On Your Mind (As Well As Your Body)

Mindset Hacks To Help You Achieve An Amazing Body Transformation

Alongside training, I recommend spending 10-30 minutes per day working on yourself and your personal development. This is where you sit down and do things such as meditating, reading, listening to podcasts, etc.

In terms of mediating, I recommend the apps Headspace and Calm. With regards to books, here are some of the best books I read last year:

  • The Secret – Rhonda Byrne
  • The Chimp Paradox – Dr. Steve Peters
  • The Values Factor, and The Riches Within – Dr. John Martini
  • Change Your Thoughts Change Your Life – Wayne Dyer
  • Silent Guides – Dr. Steve Peters
  • How Champions Think – Bob Rotella
  • 7 Strategies For Wealth – Jim Rohn
  • 12 Rules Of Life – Jordan Peterson

Thanks for reading, and good luck in 2020! If you have any questions please get in touch!
