What is biohacking and why is it important in our day and age?

At some point in time, you must have heard or read something related to biohacking. If you haven’t heard/read about the term itself, you must have seen many examples of biohacking on social media. The famous scientist, Manfred Clynes, came up with this idea of biohacking back in 1960. Ever since then, people have been finding ways to improve their lifestyle by biohacking. So, in this article, we will get more in-depth with the term biohacking, and why is it essential in our age and time.

What Is Biohacking?

Let’s break it down for easier understanding. Biohacking comprises two words, biology, and hacking, respectively. So, biology is the study of living organisms, therefore making it related to humans. Hacking, on the other hand, is a strategy or a technique to accomplish something. Think about life hacks, for instance. These are all little things that can make your life tons easier.

So, biohacking, in a nutshell, means to hack the biology of your body in order to make it better in different ways. For instance, many biohackers altered their DNA for a fraction of the cost! Similarly, another biohacker live-streamed as he altered his DNA. So, what is the one thing that is common among many biohackers? They don’t get any professional help. These are all DIYs (Do It Yourself).

Other types of biohacking, apart from DIY, includes:

Nutrigenomics

Nutrigenomics deals with how different nutrients make you behave, feel, and think. It is how the food that you consume reacts with your genetics. This kind of biohacking is carried out by testing how nutrients affect your health over time.

Grinder

The ideology behind Grinder is that every part of the human body can be hacked to make it better. Grinders want to become “cyborgs” by customizing their body in different ways such as:

  • chemical injections
  • implants
  • combination of various gadgets etc.

Why Should You Biohack?

Biohacking has been around for centuries now. Not biohacking itself, but people have been trying to find ways to improve their overall health and boost their performance. So the question that arises is, how important is it in our age and day? Well, it’s pretty essential. I don’t just say that without any reason, though. Here are some of the reasons why biohacking is a must.

Nutrigenomics Is Extraordinary

As you might already know, there is nothing wrong with consuming the right nutrients. Biohacking using nutrigenomics is an excellent way of improving your health in the long term. Here are a few reasons why

  1. It can help decrease the risk of developing a disease due to your genetics.
  2. It can help you improve your mental and physical state, such as losing weight or fighting depression.
  3. It can also help improve blood pressure, which is essential for a healthy body.

So, it is safe to say that food does have a significant impact on your health; however, it does not react the same way for everyone. According to a review in 2015, other external factors such as exercise and stress levels have a great impact on how food reacts with your body.

Using nootropics can also be classified as biohacking, whether they’re natural or not. You’re using something to hack the potential of your body. The “closest thing to the Limitless pill” has hacked the inner psyche of many individuals and made them more productive and happy in the to day life, even after months of not using it have gone by. This has lead to immense popularity surrounding the phenomenon, as more and more people buy Modafinil from online pharamcies.

DIY Biohacks And Grinder?

Whether both of these biohacking works or not is highly debatable. There have been several accidents and mishaps, but there are some success stories too. For instance, a biohacker developed night vision by injecting Chlorin e6 into his eyes, which temporarily altered photosensitizers in his eyes.

On the other hand, many grinders embedded RIFD chips in their bodies just so they could have built-in headphones, or have access to classified areas in hospitals. This may sound pretty cool to many people, but in fact, it is just the cooler way of getting cancer. Therefore, there are many risks involved with DIY biohacking. But at times, they do work like a charm too!

Conclusion

Conclusively, we can say that biohacking is an excellent way of improving your lifestyle and health, especially if you work on the nutrients. If you want to get ahead in your life, especially in this highly competitive society, definitely try out some biohacking yourself!
