The Lean Startup : Running your body like a Business…

30/09/2014

Growing a business and transforming your body shape in many respects go hand in hand. They both take time, require hard work,  persistence, amongst other factors and they both come with their fair share of setbacks and challenges.

Building a multi million pound business does not happen over night and neither does building a body to be proud of.

Anything in life worth having is going to take years of hard work, focus and dedication. But the good news is that if you take action, take one step at a time and keep doing that on repeat your results are guaranteed.

Here is a different perspective on what it takes to build your ideal body…

The Start Up…

If you are like most it is very difficult to start and grow a business from scratch. Chances are you have very little capital and limited resources to get up and running.

There’s a pool of free information out there on the internet but paradoxically this leaves us feeling confused and overwhelmed by choice, puzzling our decisions. It’s sometimes easy for us to get lost, as we fixate on the nitty gritty details and neglect the overall objective as to why we started in the first place.

When starting exercise endeavours I often see people trying to complete magazine programmes from the likes of Men’s Health, undertaking fancy exercises and following routines from articles they have found on the internet. To start with we just need to stick to basics and keep it VERY simple. . .

When starting a company you have to be resourceful and be able to maximise the resources you have readily available to you right now i.e. friends, contacts, family, call upon your current knowledge in subject field, read books, study on the internet, etc.

Do you know anybody that can help you? Maybe your friend is a personal trainer, or you have a friend whose suddenly achieved a head turning transformation?

Most don’t have the luxury to be able to spend endless money on advertising, social media campaigns, premises, staff, etc, etc. If things do go to plan, then you can afford to investigate/implement more resources into the business.

If you are a beginner just keep it simple. More often than not I see beginners completely miss the boat when it comes to training because they make it overcomplicated. In other words it’s like trying to run before being able to walk.

4 Lean Startup Tips to help you grow your business…

The Lean Start Up Tip (1) : Gym Plan

You need a plan of action. If you have no map how do you know how to get to your destination? If in doubt why not hire a personal trainer who can formulate a plan of action tailored towards your goals?

If cost is an issue then see your coach once a week, fortnight or once a month. Do you want your business to go bust? Then the right plan of action is imperative, especially when starting out. Failing to plan is planning to fail, don’t miss out this essential ingredient when it comes to building your dream body.

The Lean Startup Tip (2) : Fitness Mentor

Get the right help. Hiring a high quality personal trainer will help you jump the ladder when it comes to results providing your follow their guidance.

Tap into the experience of others, but please ‘note’ it’s best to tap into the experience of someone with who you can talk to in person. It’s all well and good hearing a story/reading an article online but chances are your circumstances/experience level will be different amongst plenty of other varying factors.

Pick a coach who can design a plan which will be optimal for ‘You!’ and follow it.

The Lean Startup Tip (3) : Training Premises

Pick the right place to train. Do you need to train at the gym or can you train at home? Maybe you can join an outdoor bootcamp, or go running with a friend in the park?

What does your goal require? You need to pick the right environment to train, by environment I mean a place which is conducive to your goals i.e. to build muscle and burn fat you will need weights and resistance machines.

Pick a place with a hard-working atmosphere, a place that supports your growth and development. Training with people who are fitter and better than you will help you to progress…

Don’t be intermediated, “we all start somewhere”. You are there to get better not to be the best. There’s nothing wrong with going to the gym with friends but remember your there to train and get results not to have a laugh and Vanilla latte in the cafe!

The Lean Startup Tip (4) : Stick to Single ingredient Food

Don’t worry about how much. When you eat high quality foods it’s very difficult to overeat. Eat 5-7 meals and spread them throughout the day i.e. a new meal every 2-3 hrs.

Single food ingredients include: chicken, turkey, salmon, cod, mackerel, haddock, steak, mince, eggs, broccoli, peas, carrots, spinach, green beans, sweet potatoes, brown rice, etc, etc. If you wish to know more drop me an e-mail and i’ll send you some ideas. By consuming single ingredient foods you will be placing yourself in a strong position to make changes physically.

Reverting back to the business analogy used in this article, remember it will take time to grow your business and time to transform your body. Remember. . . “One poor meal does not make you fat. One good meal does not make you lean. It’s daily meal decisions over a long period of time ”

I can 100% guarantee that if you consistently take the 4 steps above you will be well on the way to growing your business!

Let me know how you get on, I would love to hear from you.

Also, if you have any questions please feel free to get in touch. I will aim to get back to you within 24 hours.
